Fairy Tales

"Isn't theatre a poetic dream, and is the stage anything other than a mouth speaking in its sleep?"
Snow White returns to the palace after the queen's assassination attempt to negotiate the end of her fairy tale. Cinderella doubts her prince and enjoys being hated by her stepsisters. Sleeping Beauty is not happy when she is awakened from sleep uninvited and has to resume her duties.
Swiss author Robert Walser (1878-1956) adapted these three Grimm fairy tales into dreamy stage narratives about characters who no longer want to stay within the preconceived storylines. With poetic seriousness and playful banter, tibaldus brings them to the theatre.
