Lisa Vereertbrugghen works on new group performance in Barcelona

As part of a creative exchange with Teatre Lliure, Lisa Vereertbrugghen spent a month in Barcelona working on her new group performance While We Are Here. Together with performer & co-creator Claire Godsmark, she went there to soak up the vibrant folk dance scene on the Plaça del Rei (see photo below). "In addition, I explore how voices, hardcore techno and folk dance can merge into the sound of the performance," she says.

While we are here premieres on 8 December at December Dance, which takes place in Bruges from 7 to 19 December, and explores the timeless desire to dance collectively hard. Five female performers bring together underground techno raves with folkloric group dances that evoke fun and togetherness. The show is also to be seen at STUK in Leuven in December and in Ghent next year during Ghent International Festival (GIF).
