“Out of the Blue” is coming home this week to CAMPO!

'We know more about the surface of the moon than we do about the bottom of the ocean.' This statement often comes up when talking about the deep sea. Globally, only 10 per cent of the ocean floor has been mapped and studied. At a moment in history when the planet we live on seems more or less studied, some places remain unexplored and untouched.
After their successful shows Mining Stories (2017) and Pleasant Island (2019), Silke Huysmans and Hannes Dereere are making the final part of their trilogy on mining. This time, they delve deeper into a completely new industry: deep-sea mining. As resources on land are increasingly being depleted, mining companies are turning their eyes to the ocean.
Out of the Blue premiered at the Kunstenfestivaldesarts in May 2022 and has since toured Germany, the Netherlands, Slovenia, Switzerland and France. Among others, the performance was programmed at the opening weekend of Théâtre de la Ville (Paris) and Noorderzon performing arts festival (Groningen).
The performance also received extensive press attention in recent months: interviews with BRUZZ and Klara, among others, and rave reviews at home and abroad. Discover them all on this page.
After three performances at CAMPO on 26, 27 and 28 October, the performance will travel on to Portugal for the Alkantara Festival, Prague and Amsterdam after several stops in Flanders.
