bodies of knowledge (BOK public learning days)
BOK
BOK is a place where people can learn from each other.
Things one usually does not learn,
told by voices that are not always heard,
from different parts of society and the world.
In BOK we exchange knowledge that feeds a more just and humane society.
It is a space to listen, to ask, to connect.
BOK welcomes life experts rather than professional authorities.
As a semi-nomadic classroom, the colorful BOK tent stays in the same spot in the city for a few weeks or months, and then moves on again.
In the past, BOK has welcomed learning sessions like: How to fight police violence in our neighbourhoods (Collectif des Madres), How astrology ‘boosted’ my life (Chantal), Singing multilingual music as political/cultural activism (Şeref & Gamze), How to heal yourself with medicinal plants (Valéria), Slamming your young misfit voice ‘out of the box’ (Drissia).
This time, BOK will set its temporary school for four public learning days between the 8th and 11th of March in the Zonder-Naampark in Ghent. Every day, you are welcome to listen and learn from different ‘bodies of knowledge’, people from the neighborhood or elsewhere in the city who will share life-knowledge that can nurture a more just society.
This public program will be the result of a two-weeks workshop with the BOK team and a local group of neighbours, artists, activists, community workers or just curious persons eager to search for invisibilized knowledge in the city they live in. Learn more about the essays, podcasts, articles etc. concerning previous editions here.
