We spelen alleen als het sneeuwt (We only play when it snows)
Camping Sunset / OPENDOEK
Some members of the Ghent-based theatre collective Camping Sunset, which usually creates site-specific performances en groupe in just two weeks, worked with a group of actors on the occasion of the Landjuweelfestival on a play about stage performances. Together, they explored why they love to play, why sharing the stage collectively is so special and what has already passed the revue in their short or long theatre careers. In fifteen days, this exceptional and temporary family made a tasteful ode to tasteless theatre, to making music together, to acting with skin and hair. For this performance, they departed from Roy Anderson's film You, the living, to blow in other directions as quickly as possible. This performance is now being revived at CAMPO, regular partner and base of operations of Camping Sunset.
In We spelen alleen als het sneeuwt (‘We only play when it snows’) seventeen actors are on stage, both amateurs and professionals, with ages spanning more than five decades. That means more than 140 years of theatre experience on one stage. They know their lines, all of them, they know where their wigs are, they know who not to get in their way and who they love to stand next to. Just a pity they only play when it snows.
